Banarhat is a census town of the Banarhat CD block in Dhupguri subdivision of the Jalpaiguri District in the state of West Bengal, India. Sharing nearest international border with BHUTAN.

Banarhat has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Education
Banarhat Kartik Oraon Hindi Government College was established at Banarhat in 2014. Affiliated with the North Bengal University, it is a Hindi-medium institution offering courses in arts and science.[18]
